EDGE! Acting & Theater Program
Tuesdays- August 3 thru 31, 2010
Time: 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: AA Rec Center

“To be, or not to be, that is the question.” Have you ever thought what it would be like to act on a stage and learning different facets of the theater? Here is a great chance realize some of your dreams. The EDGE Acting and Theater program will cover various facets of acting, working in a theater setting, and more. Have fun with your friends and see if acting is something for you!

Open to all active duty military and DOD civilian and contractor family members, ages 11-18, both boys and girls. Program is free to eligible participants.

Days: Tuesdays, August 3-31
Time: 4– 6pm Location: Aberdeen Area Recreation Center.

Parents should provide transportation. For those requiring it, transportation will be provided from the Aberdeen Youth Services, Bldg 2522. Bus leaves at 3:45 pm sharp!

EDGE! Chesapeake Challenge
Thursdays- August 5 thru 26, 2010
Time: 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: AA Chesapeake Challenge Center / Meet at the AAYS for transportation

WOW!! Drive a go-kart, play some mini-golf, take batting practice and have lots of fun. Bring a friend for even more fun.

Open to all active duty military and DOD civilian and contractor family members, ages 11-18, both boys and girls. Program is free to eligible participants.

EDGE! Tour of Sports
Fridays- August 6 thru 27, 2010
Time: 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: Shore Park on AA/ Meet at the AAYS for transportation

Whether you’re a novice or a skilled athlete, this tour has something for every youth and teen. The Tour of Sports includes 3-on-3 basketball games, dodge ball, disc golf, kickball, softball and beach volleyball. Youth will be provided with instruction, encouragement and opportunities to participate in each sport.

Open to all active duty military and DOD civilian and contractor family members, ages 11-18, both boys and girls. Program is free to eligible participants.

EDGE! Rollin' Down the Alley Bowling
Wednesdays - September 1 thru 29, 2010
Time: 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: Aberdeen Bowling Center

Bowling is a lifetime sport and activity. It’s fun to do with family, friends, or even in competitive settings. There’s more to it than making the ball curve each way to get that strike or pick up that difficult spare. So what’s stopping you from signing up now??!! See you at the lanes!!

EDGE! Teen Fitness Challenge

Are you ready for a challenge? We have one for our youth and teens. Fitness is not all sweat and drudgery. Let’s make it fun and learn how to do some exercise without realizing it. All types of exercise will be covered. Are you up for a challenge?

EDGE! Ceramics Painting
Fridays - September 3 thru 24, 2010
Time: 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: Arts & Crafts Shop, Edgewood Area

Choose a mold you like and paint it the way you want. Design a gift for your parents, or something you want to display in your room, to your friends and everywhere. Once you paint it, the finished product will be fired up and glazed just the way you want it!

Art EDGE! promotes learning-by-doing and focuses on the development of lifetime skills while exposing participants to the arts. Art EDGE! activities increase creative development while building self-esteem. Suggested programming options might include ceramics, computer graphic design, digital film making, digital music making, digital photography, drawing, fashion design, Hip Hop, painting, scrapbooking, theater arts, woodworking, etc.

Suggested MWR partners are:

  • Fit EDGE! educates and encourages children and youth to incorporate a healthier lifestyle through physical activity and nutritional awareness programs. Suggested programming options might include adventure sports, aerobics, body sculpting, bowling, customized fitness programs, golf, nutrition programs, strength training, stress management, team and pick-up sports, weight management, weight training, yoga, etc.

  • Life EDGE! imparts upon children and youth the skills needed for life-long growth as well as the exploration of future career fields. Suggested program options might be age-specific basic cooking, baking and culinary art activities, auto maintenance and repair skills, book clubs, computer skills, consumer skills, dog obedience, health and food safety, ecology and living green, marketing and advertising, money management, pet care, research skills, study skills, time-management, etc.
