Welcome to Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS)!
Whether you and your family are stationed at the Aberdeen
Area (AA) or at the Edgewood Area (EA), we
offer your child and the children of DoD
civilian sponsors, retirees or contractors a
comprehensive set of programs to assist you
with your child care needs.
We are pleased that you and your child
will be participating in our programs. The
purpose of these web pages are to briefly
explain our programs and policies. Please
bookmark the appropriate pages for your
reference. We welcome your comments and
suggestions and solicit your cooperation and
support.
Mission
The mission of CYSS is to promote readiness by
reducing conflict between parental
responsibilities and unit missions. We offer
care for children from four weeks to teens in
full-day, part-day, hourly, before and after
school and sports activities. Our goal is to
assist your child by promoting his
intellectual growth, physical ability and
social skills.
Philosophy
The staff of APG CYSS recognizes that quality
child programs are a vital need. We offer
children varied opportunities to develop
physically, socially, emotionally,
aesthetically, intellectually and
independently. All staff members are trained
to facilitate, support, guide and function as
role models to children of all ages on their
journey to adulthood.

It’s that time of year again! It’s time to start making summer camp plans for your child!
The Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) offers Active Duty military, DoD civilians, and contractors a comprehensive set of programs to assist with summer child care needs.
Both the Aberdeen and Edgewood Summer Camp Programs consist of nine sessions, running from June 17 to August 16, Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The program is open to qualifying children completing kindergarten through 8th grades. Tuition fees are up to $140 per week based on the child’s grade and total family or household income. Sessions run week to week, allowing parents to sign up for only the weeks when child care is needed. Summer fees can be downloaded on the Central Registration page.
The APG Summer Camp programs are located at the Aberdeen and Edgewood Youth Centers. Campers will enjoy art, sports, games, computer labs and swimming. In addition, every week the entire camp goes on a special field trip. Past trips have included tours of DC area museums, amusement parks and everyone’s summer favorite, the Harford County Farm Fair. Breakfast, lunch and snack are included in the tuition.
The Parent Central Registration Office will start accepting waiting list forms on February 19, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. This form can be downloaded on the Central Registration page, or you can pick up the form at the Parent Central Registration Office (Bldg 2503, rooms 210 & 211), Aberdeen Youth Center (Bldg 2522), Aberdeen CDC (Bldg 2485), Bayside CDC (Bldg 2521), Edgewood Youth Center (Bldg E1902) and Edgewood CDC (Bldg E1901).
