  PICNIC & CAMPING AREAS


Picnic and camping areas may be reserved by contacting Outdoor Recreation, Bldg 2184, 410-278-4124,
during normal operating hours. Registration is open to all beginning February. All picnic areas are open dawn until dusk.


Reserving a Picnic area; Non ID card attendees.

Picnic sponsors must submit a roster of non-ID card visitors' names no later than two weeks in advance of picnic date. All invited visitors must enter through the 715 gate and proceed to entrance station #5 (last station on the right when entering the installation). All adults and youth 16 years and older must present a valid photo identification. MWR representative will use roster to check in visitors attending picnic. Any visitor not on the roster will be directed to the Visitors Center, where they must follow visitor entrance procedures. Visitors on motorcycles must follow procedures for operating a motorcycle within APG, to include: each motorcyclist and passenger is required to wear helmets, highly colored reflective vest (yellow, orange, or green), goggles/face shield, sturdy footwear, long sleeves and long trousers, and full finger gloves. Contact the Department of Emergency Services for complete motorcycle operating requirements.


PICNIC AND CAMPING AREAS

Picnic areas are operated on a reservation basis for on/off-post organizations, all weekend and holiday users. All users must pay. Picnic areas are open from dawn to dusk, to include setup and clean-up times. These areas may be reserved by garrison, tenant, off-post and all other organizations and weekend users.

  • All picnic areas are open dawn to dusk.
  • Beer and wine are the only alcoholic beverages permitted.
  • Please keep picnic areas clean by placing trash in containers located throughout the areas.

    Camping pads are available March - October. With electric: $10 per night. Without electric: $7 per night. No bath house. Primitive sites: $5 per night.

    Park Street (Shore Pool Picnic Area)
    Located on Park Road across from Shore Swimming Pool, this area has a pavilion, picnic tables, barbecue grills and swing sets! It is our largest picnic and recreation area.

    Skipper's Point Picnic Area
    Located on Skipper's Point Road and reservations are available. This large picnic area includes two pavilions, picnic tables, barbecue grills and a playground! There are 6 RV and 9 tent primitive camp sites. Permits are required.

    Woodpecker Point Picnic Area
    Located on Spesutie Island Road. This area has two small pavilions, picnic tables, barbecue grills, playgrounds and a volleyball court!
