SKIES - Creative Canvas

Jun 23, 2017

Location: MWR Building 2407 (to the left of the Post Exchange)
Time: 6–8 p.m.
Cost: $25 Includes 1 youth and 1 adult. $10 Per additional child.
Ages: Grades 1-12 (and their parents)

Put on your artist’s cap, grab a brush, and come paint a masterpiece with us!  No experience necessary. Our SKIES Unlimited instructors will guide you step-by-step to create your own painting; or you may choose to do exactly as the instructor does; or you can choose to add elements to make it your very own. Each participant paints their own canvas.

Parent participation is required and encouraged.

SKIES - Let's Cook! - Around the World

Summer Session 1: Jul 11, 12 & 13, 2017

Location: Corvias Community Center, 2658 Chesapeake Ave, APG, MD
Time: 9 a.m.–Noon
Cost: $45 supply fee (for 3 day workshop)
Ages: 7+

Let’s Cook Around the World! Join us to cook meals from other countries! SKIES instructional cooking classes will teach children different skills to prepare foods including how to follow a recipe, measurements, kitchen safety and sanitation. Children will cook up to 3 dishes including a main dish and a dessert. Some recipes will require help from an adult when repeated at home. Parents are not required to stay on site during class.

Summer Camp Participants: Bus transportation from the Aberdeen Area Youth Center must be requested at time of registration.

SKIES - Tiny Tigers & Little Dragons

2017 Summer Session 2: Jul 17 – Aug 30 (6 weeks)

“One Team, One Family."

Beginner level age-appropriate versions of TaeKwonDo will direct students’ energy into confidence and character building skills. Students will learn blocking, punching and kicking techniques.

Tiny Tigers  (Ages 3-4)
Time: 5-5:30 p.m.

Little Dragons (Ages 5-6)
Time: 5:30-6:15 p.m.

SKIES - Seoul Warriors Junior & Teen Taekwondo

TaeKwonDo is a Korean martial art that is practiced by students on a worldwide scale promoting Discipline, Confidence, Increased Focus, Fitness, Community, and Tons of FUN! Tae Kwon Do instruction of Self-Defense not only strengthens your body, but also your mind.  TaeKwonDo consists of four different roles: Exercise, Bare-Handed Martial Arts Form, Sports and Educational Method.  TaeKwonDo is one of only two of the martial arts that are included in the Olympic Games. Our students range in ages and levels but one thing remains the same: Their LOVE and PASSION for TaeKwonDo.

SKIES/4-H - Babysitting Course

Session 2: Jul 18, 19 & 20

Location: CYSS Bldg 2503 Highpoint Rd, 2nd floor conference rm #214
Time: 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
Cost: FREE!!! (you must register in order to participate)
Ages: 13-18 yrs

This class will familiarize participants with all the responsibilities of babysitting as well as certifying the participant in CPR/First Aid. Students will receive a certificate of completion as well as their CPR/First Aid cards. Attendance of all three days in session is required for certification.

SKIES - KIDZ CRAFTS - Summer Art Workshop

Jul 24-27, 2017

Location: Bldg 2407 (across from Aberdeen CDC), APG North
Time: 10 a.m.-Noon
Cost: $7 supply fee
Ages: 5-12 years old

This class will introduce students to a variety of mediums and methods including drawing, painting and collage. Students will learn and practice basic skills to include color mixing, painting with artist paint brushes, drawing with pencil, marker, pastel and more. Young artists will have a presentation for their parents on Thu, Jul 27 at Noon.

SKIES - Private Piano & Guitar Lessons

2017 Summer Session 2

Location: Aberdeen Area Youth Services, Bldg 2522
Ages: Piano 4-18 yrs / Guitar 7-18 yrs

Private 30 minute sessions.  Lessons meet weekly.  Book fee is not included.  Please be prepared to pay for books at the start of the class.

Mondays: Aug 7 - 28 (4 lessons)  $72
Tuesdays: Aug 8 - 29 (4 lessons) $72
Wednesdays: Aug 9 - 30 (4 lessons) $72

SKIES - SAT Preparation Summer Workshop

Session 2: Jul 31 - Aug 3, 2017
Sessions meet all 4 days

Location: Aberdeen Youth Center (Bldg 2522), Tech Lab
Time: 9 a.m.-noon
Cost: $225 (includes the cost of the SAT Prep Book)
Age: 14-18 years

Get a jump start this summer studying for fall SATs with Ms. Sue Fassold and team. They work with students of all levels to prepare to take all areas of the SATs: Critical Reading, Math and Writing. Online video chat small-group sessions offered at the Aberdeen Youth Center Tech Lab. There are limited spaces per session.

SAT Test Dates: Aug 26 and Oct 7 (class does not include the test).
